What does a Massage Therapist do?
As a Registered Massage Therapist, obtaining your education from Canadian Therapeutic College means a vast range of employment opportunities are available to you. Therapists may own and manage private clinics, or select employment from:
chiropractic clinics,
medical and health centers,
private physician offices,
nursing homes,
professional and amateur sports teams,
fitness institutes,
aesthetic spas
private industry teaching environments.

What do Sports Injury Therapists do?

A Sports Injury Therapist may select employment from a variety of settings:

national / provincial sports teams
rehabilitation centres
physical therapy clinics
chiropractic clinics
fitness institutes
medical and health centres
physicians' offices
   
3. How long will it take to complete the Massage Therapy and Sports Injury Therapy Programs?
The Massage Therapy program is a 2-year program and the Sports Injury Therapy program is a 3-year program running a "3 day week" with three, 3-hour classes, scheduled per day.  The Advanced Standing Massage Therapy program (1-year) and the Advanced Standing Sports Injury Therapy program (2-year) run Monday to Friday with two, 3-hour classes, per day. Clinics, Outreaches and Field Placements are scheduled outside of class time.  There are scheduled breaks for holidays, between semesters and for the summer.
 
4. What is an outreach program?  What is a field placement?  What is the clinic for?
Clinics are where the general public receive therapy treatments (e.g. Massage Therapy and Sports Injury Therapy), performed by students studying at CTC and CCDH. Field Placements are opportunities where students gain relevant experience in a work environment. Outreaches are a set of community based programs where students are exposed to and practice Massage Therapy at locations outside the College (i.e. Sporting Events, Hospitals).
 
5. Upon successful completion of Massage Therapy and Sports Injury Therapy Programs, will I be eligible to write any provincial certification exams?
After successful completion of the Massage Therapy program or the Sports Injury Therapy program at Canadian Therapeutic College, graduates are eligible to write the provincial certification examination, to become a Registered Massage Therapist in the province of Ontario.
