PARAMEDIC PROGRAM INTAKE TESTING SUMMARY                                   

 

  • Intake testing is in three parts; a fitness component an academic component and a personal interview. 
  • This requires a full day for testing and a follow up appointment for an interview. 
  • The fitness component requires 3 hours.  (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with appropriate breaks).
  • The academic component requires 2.3 hours with a 10 minute break between each test.

·        Canadian Test of Basic Skills  - English, Form K, level17/18 (Reading Comprehension)

·        Canadian Test of Basic Skills – Math and Science, Form K, Level 17/18

 

 

  1. 8:45am  check in
  2. 9:00 Par-Q questionnaire and  waiver of liability
  3. Pre-screen evaluation - Resting heart rate (<120), BP (Normal Range) and BMI (20-25). Applicants must pass to proceed.
  4. Fitness testing (Not necessarily in this order)

i)                 Station 1 – Run

ii)               Station 2 – Tension pull

iii)              Station 3 – Push ups

iv)              Station 4 – Sit ups

v)               Station 5 – Flexibility

  1. An overall fitness mark of 60% is considered a passing grade.
  2. Break
  3. CTBS testing begins at 1:00pm (A minimum of Grade 12 Equivalency for all subjects is required for a passing grade)
