Canadian
2007 Mock Certification Examination
GENERAL INFORMATION
Times: Mock Examinations are
currently offered to our 3rd semester students to assist them in
preparation for the writing of the NDHCE.
For students completing the
Dental Hygiene program in September 2007; the Mock Certification Examination
will be held on:
August 13th, 2007: 9:00 – 4:00 p.m.
An Information Session will
be scheduled for July 18th,
2007 @ 4:30 p.m. for CCDH 3rd semester students only. The objective of this Information Session is
to guide and prepare students for the NDHCE to be written on September 17th,
2007.
Objectives:
Examination Process:
Academic Dishonesty: Academic Dishonesty will not be tolerated. The following
behavior(s) may result in the termination of an examination:
Students will receive
feedback following the examination. The
breakdown of the performance report will identify areas of weakness to direct
the student in their study preparation.
The student will receive a percentage of how they did in each subject
(e.g. Biological Sciences, Dental Sciences, Dental Hygiene Process of Care
etc). Students will not be able to review the actual test material.
Please be aware that an
examination environment is never perfect. Please be prepared for some noise,
distractions, temperature variations, etc.
·
The examination
will be administered in one day, in a morning and afternoon session, each 3
hours in length. This is designed to
mirror the structural format of the NDHCE
·
Part A and Part
B will contain 125 questions each totaling 250 questions in the complete Mock
Comprehensive Examination
·
Each question
has an introductory statement and four possible answers.
·
There will be 75
independent questions followed by 50 questions related to specific cases
·
You will record
your answers on a Scantron answer sheet.
Since CCDH’s mock
examination will mirror the NDHCE to the best of our ability, CCDH will follow
the same structure as laid out in the NDHCE Blueprint that can be downloaded at
www.ndhcb.ca, under exam blueprint.
The Blueprint lists all of
the competencies (knowledge, abilities, skills, attitudes and judgment) that
are tested on the examination. Although the Blueprint was not developed
specifically for study purposes, it does provide valuable information about the
examination content, the examination format, types of questions, and those
competencies which are tested most frequently.
The examination will also be developed based on Bloom’s Taxonomy of
Learning Objectives. This is a tool that
is used widely for the specific purpose of developing a multiple choice format
examination.
**Please note: You must
be present 15 minutes before your scheduled time to gain entry into the
testing room. Anyone who is late will not be admitted. They will not be given a
second opportunity to write the Mock examination. In the case of illness, a medical note must be
provided in order to be eligible to write the Mock at a later date.
For
examples of sample questions, please refer to the NDHCB website.
Please make sure that you have read all the
updated Regulations and Practice Guidelines that are available on the CDHO’s
website. These regulations can and will be testable material.
